Understanding LASIK Cost

Golfer on pristine courseMany people dream of waking up without having to fumble for glasses each morning before they start their day. For many of our patients, laser vision correction can help to reduce or eliminate the need for glasses or contact lenses altogether, providing a great boost to their quality of life. Still, you may have financial concerns and questions about the cost of your treatment. Our caring team of eye care professionals can help you understand the factors that influence LASIK cost at one of our El Paso locations. To learn more about the cost of LASIK vision correction and how it can change your life, please contact our office and schedule an appointment with one of our surgeons.

Determining Your Unique Treatment Cost

LASIK is individualized to provide patients with the best possible results, so treatment cost varies from case to case. There are many different factors that will determine the final cost of your LASIK procedure, including:

  • Visual acuity: Depending on the condition of your eyes and the level of degeneration that has already occurred, you may require more extensive treatment.
  • Insurance: Most insurance plans do not cover LASIK vision correction surgery, but a few major carriers have discount benefits for this procedure. We can contact your insurance provider to see which, if any, benefits are available to you.
  • Location: Depending on where you have the procedure performed, pricing can be higher or lower. Large cities with high costs of living tend to have more expensive treatment costs than smaller towns, for example.
  • Type of surgery: Different types of LASIK procedures have different associated costs. Blade-free and custom wavefront-guided treatments tend to cost more than traditional LASIK, which uses an older surgical technique.

In order to predict an accurate estimate of your treatment cost, one of our doctors will first need to conduct a comprehensive eye exam. During an appointment, we can also help you understand your treatment options and discuss factors that will affect the cost of your procedure in detail.

Weighing the Benefits of Your Investment

If you are considering surgery to correct your vision, you have likely been wearing glasses or contact lenses for an extended period of time. Consider how much you have spent on glasses or contact lenses over the years, and imagine that continued cost as you get older. By reducing or eliminating the need for glasses or contacts, you are also reducing or eliminating that expense from your budget.
